inexpensive mods?
Ok so tax season is here. What's some inexpensive performance mods I can do besides a tuner? I'm already getting the srt suspension off Paul. Now I need more! Let's say for under a grand. Any ideas? Price just for parts, I don't plan on paying for installation. I'll attempt to install myself or with the help of my awesome car club

Re: inexpensive mods?
If buying new, I'd say cam and intake manifold, or cam and headers. If buying used, there is a set of heads and cam for sale on LXforums for $900 now. I've installed both on my own and isn't too bad if you take your time and do some research. With either of those mods, I would definitely recommend a CMR tune, so you'd have to calculate that in as well. Johan can get you a good tune for a small donation. See my other thread that has a link to the used heads/cam package for a steal...

Re: inexpensive mods?
If you go the heads/cam route, it's a good time to replace some other stuff, so I would recommend other replacements while you're in there. Obviously that will cost more, so it really depends if that is the way you want to go. If you just go with a moderate cam, that may be your best bet. That way you can retain MDS, stock push rods, springs, etc...

Re: inexpensive mods?
You could also look at the rear. Maybe a stock SRT 3.06 rear. You can usually get one with everything you need for around $400-$500.
I'm also contemplating selling the set of SRT headers/mids I just picked up. I was going to get a 6.1 catback to complete the system, but ended up taking advantage of a SUPER cheap deal on a Flowmaster American Thunder catback.

Re: inexpensive mods?
I definitely want to go with heads/mids. I think I'll wait on the cam and do the minor stuff first that's required fof a decent cam. Someone also reccomended a pully. The rear may be a good idea too.

Re: inexpensive mods?
Well let me know, I have a set of stock SRT headers/mids that I could part with. You would just need an exhaust shop to fit the catback up to it

Re: inexpensive mods?
You want show or go items? I can probably give you some suggestions on the show items. For Go, get a good CMR tune after any major pwer change. Head/CAM, etc.

I'm thinking go items for right now unless it's an impressive show item. I open to ideas.

Re: inexpensive mods?
Forgot to mention the "NoESP" and "Tranzformer" mods.
I have the NoESP mod and it basically allows you to fully disable the ESP/traction control. Pretty easy to install and only costs $50. I would recommend soldering the wired connections instead of using the supplied taps. I had one come loose more than once and finally just soldered it.
I've been debating on the TranZformer, but haven't purchased yet. It allows you to customize the shifting firmness, etc... to give you an old school feel. Increases line pressure during shifts, and a few other things... Should be right around $250.
